I read somewhere sometime that Mathew Abaddon is in fact Walt from the future.
So no, I am not sure is this even possible and how would it play out but I saw Cabin Fever again last night. Here is what I noticed.
Abaddon: You survived a falling out of 8 story building. Thats a miracle Mister Locke.Let me ask you something. Do you believe in miracles?
Locke: No, I don't believe in miracles.
Abaddon: You should. I had one happen to me.
Abaddon:You know what you need Mister Locke? You need to go on a walkabout.
Locke: Whats a walkabout?
Abaddon:It's a journey of self discovery. You go out into the Australian outback with nothing more than a knife and your wits.
Locke: I can't walkabout anything..in case you haven't noticed I am a cripple.
Abaddon: Is that what you are, Mr. Locke? I went on my Walkabout convinced I was one thing, but came back another. I found out what I was made of, who I was.
Locke: And here you are. An Orderly.
Abaddon: Oh I am lot more than just an orderly John.
The elevator opens and Matthew wheels Locke inside and then steps out.
Abaddon: When you're ready, Mister Locke, you'll listen to what I'm saying. And then, when we run into each other again, you'll owe me one.
I remember a theory someone wrote about Ben and the Orchid and experiments on Walt. So basically Ben took Walt to Orchid Station and experimented on time travel and that is the main reason why Walt appeared random on the island. Talking backwards, dripping wet, then again dry and so on. I agree with that theory.
So here me out.
The experiments on Walt were regarding time travel among other things. That is the reason why Bea asked Michael if Walt ever appeared where he wasn't suppose to be.
I mean what kind of question is that?
They probably sent him somewhere in time and perhaps something went wrong and they had no idea where and when they sent him so she wanted to see if Michael ever noticed something strange or Walt being at two places at the time, considering he is his father. But unfortunately Michael knows nothing since he was absent most of the time. But Brian knows. And Brian was afraid of Walt, because he was different, special. And I am guessing not just because Walt has ability to make things happen just by thinking and wishing them (polar bear, beating Hurley over and over again, the birds etc.) but perhaps because he saw him appearing somewhere where he wasn't suppose to be just like Bea assumed.
So, conducting these experiments they created "time traveling Walt" who somehow became Abaddon. Or grownup Walt decided to go back in the past to give a little push to Mister Locke (and only Walt ever called him Mister Locke btw) because little Walt, on the island, was the only person who knew that Locke was on a walkabout and that a miracle happened to Mister Locke. None else knew about this. Just Walt. And Abbadon (he changed his name which is a common thing in Lost and probably he couldn't go around telling people he is Walt from the future) said that miracle happened to him. And that he went on his walkabout (being on The Island was his walkabout) convinced he is one thing and came another. Walt discovered his full potential on the island being with the Others although it was a horrible experience for a 10 year old. But it made him different. Showed him who he is. Just like Abaddon said.
He also told Locke that next time they see each other Locke will owe him one. Well as I remember "taller Walt" helped him, saved him from pulling that trigger and showed him a way.
But never mind all that, Abaddon talks to Locke with respect and as if he already knows him.
And remember when they went to see Walt in New York, remember how Abaddon pulled back? I don't know. It is probably a wild guess but somehow I wouldn't be surprised if this turns out to be true.
