So, here it is what i think.
The so famous statue on the island is Sobek, ancient egyptian god of protection and fertility, but also patron of the egyptian army. So you could say he has two faces. I think those two faces are MIB and Jacob. They are the personification of those two faces. That is why they live in, or next to, the statue.
I believe MIB wants to kill Jacob in order to destroy the humanity, Valenzetti Ecuation says, but MIB knows he can't kill him himself, so he has to fins a loophole, that would be the EM explosion in the hatch.
Sobek also carries an Ankh, which protects from evil and can cure any illness. That would be "in charge" of Jacob.
But, as the crocodile god, he has great fury and rage, that could destroy or kill almost anything. I think that is the Black Smocke Monster, ruled by MIB, if not MIB himself.
Did you noticed on the frozen room where the FDW is the jerogliphics? And why do they appear in tunez? All egyptian related
These theory, although strange, has a good and solid base. In the Season 4 DVD, with the bonuses there is a part called "The Freighter Folks" that introduces the 4 new losties. Milles, Faraday, Charlotte and Lapidus. The producers say they needed someone to explain time-travelling (Faraday), someone to explain paranormal facts and whispers (Milles), someone to bring them to the island (Lapidus), and someone, "and archeologist or paleonthologist who knew about ancient cultures to explain what's to come" that would be Charlotte.
So, what do you think? I personally would NOT like these idea for the show, it wound seem right to me.
