I was thinking about this the other night after re watching season 5.
i hope i make this clear, cos it does sound a little messy.
Here goes. I think Jacob went back in time (or whatever he did) to touch each individual, once he does this that person can not die. The reason i think this is due to a few reasons.... Mainly that they all seem to heal very quickly from their injuries and also because of Ben and Widmore (they had a showdown in Widmores room and they said something along the lines of you cant kill me etc).
I know that people reading this will say "but locke died" and locke is the execption. He had just fallen 8 stories to the floor and must of died, Jacob therefore brought him back to life. maybe jacobs touch only stops you from dying once?
anyway, just a thought. wanted to see what everyone thoughts were.
Im also going to post another theory soon. which i hope will also be of interest.
