What if the survivors end up not back in LAX, NOT back at the original crash, but back on the island where they're supposed to be with Ben, Sun, Frank and evryone else (after all "they're coming"). Surely "Our" version of Sun deserves to meet back up with Jin and not just oh, they were never seperated.
BUT..... they have flashbacks to what's different this time round? Charlie, Shannon, Boone etc not dying (or at least not the same way). Maybe the Island will course correct and they'll still die, but we'll get a "final destination" season (flight, 180, close to 108, but that's me clutching at straws). Maybe they weren't even supposed to die and the island will course correct that so they don't? After all it's easy to keep trying to kill someone until they do finally die (Charlie, yes I'm talking about you), but "Dead is dead" after all and maybe this is the only way to course correct that little problem.
Surely if the writers were going to negate the past 5 seasons, there wouldn't have been much point in showing any of the present day island events as they won't happen now anyway.
I think we'll get flashbacks like Nikki/paolo's where we see original scenes played out a little differently, but in the end the same results. After all.... Whatever happened, happened.
