So, going through all the "debate" threads between WHH and ALT, I realized that while the "physical" time travel has been the main focus of both this season and said debate, the "consciousness" time travel of "Flashes Before Your Eyes" is still brought up constantly by both sides as an integral part of the "time travel" plot thread, although it was largely dispersed with this season.
Keeping this in mind, and also drawing from the Comic-Con videos, which, while likely not accurate to exactly what we will be seeing in Season 6, probably have a general plot hint, much like the video last year which suggested the characters would be time-traveling, I thought of a possible jumping off point for next season.
Many people have drawn parallels between the Hatch implosion and the Jughead. Its possible this identical idea has been posted already, and if so, my bad. But what if the Jughead explosion sends the consciousness' of the Losties traveling to their possible timeline if they had not crashed? It would be rather similar to Desmond's visions of Charlie's deaths in that it wouldn't necessarily be happening, but it would be still be a legitimate glimpse of what an alternate timeline would have been if 815 had not ended up on the Island.
During this "flash", all the characters would be able to see just what was wrong with their lives before the crash, and a glimpse of what might have been. At some point (I would imagine one at a time rather than all together) they would be jolted back to the Island, ending up in the jungle in 2008, possibly (especially Evangeline Lilly) naked like Desmond after the Hatch implosion.
Now, I dont really believe this theory since I doubt the writers will revive old tricks for the promised "shocking" beginning to Season 6, but it would certainly be a way to revisit the dropped "consciousness time travel" plot thread with a new twist that might remind all of the Losties just what they have to fight for on the Island when they return to the hinted war.
