OK - just watched the Season 1 Episode - "Raised By Another" Great episode that I haven't seen for a long time. Let me take you back to the point when Claire is getting all kinds of different responses from the psychic and what to do with her unborn child.
The last thing he says is that a nice or good couple will take care of the baby. We automatically think of a man and a woman. As the series goes on we think of Kate and Jack, maybe Sawyer and Kate. Who knows, but we still figure on it being a man and a woman.
Well, the end of season 5 shows us an entirely different couple. One that is much older and interesting. What if Jacob and his nemesis are actually the same being an entity. Two sides to the same god. The couple the psychic talked about were in fact a true couple - Jacob and whoever MIB is. Black and White. 2 Sides to everything.
This would explain why MIB can't kill Jacob himself. It would also explain why I always had that eerie feeling about why Jacob never says MIB's name when he says "nice talking to you Jacob." Jacob responds, "Nice talking to you too." The writers here are purposely excluding his name from the dialogue.
Who knows - could be way off. Let me know what you think after you mull it over for A NICE COUPLE of minutes.
