Tale of the Tapes.....or "A Tale of Two CHANG'S"....
My theory is about the tapes that are scattered all over the island in various stations,all starring Pierre Chang. I will list the year(or possible year)the tape was made,which lab coat he was wearing,and if he had his arm or his fake arm in the video and also give my reasons and facts.Now that's said and before we get into this...Let's talk about Miles and Pierre Chang.
I would like to point out the similar traits and personality between the two men.Both men have bad tempers and blow up real easy by yelling and insulting who ever is in the room or ear shot,but yet secretly have a heart of gold and actually care(but fight against it).Both men have the same face features(puffy circles under eyes,chubby cheeks,smirk)...it's actually a good pic on LOST to have Ken Leung and Francis Chau play father and son(they could really pass for it).Miles is 30 years old in 1977 and Chang would prob be in his mid to late thirties in '77(the Actor in real life is 49). The only real difference to me is that Miles is shorter than his Father and Chang is a little bit of Country and Miles is Rock 'n Roll!
...Now,here we go and I will explain all at the end.
1)BARRACKS TAPE(1973 or before)-starring No name given(it was Chang though),with a SWAN lab coat and his ARM and DARK HAIR.This is the tape,Ben and his Father saw when they came to the Island in 1973.
2)ARROW TAPE(1977-we saw Chang film it)-starring MARVIN CANDLE,with a SWAN lab coat and his ARM and DARK HAIR.
3)ORCHID TAPE(S)(after 1977)-starring EDGAR HALLIWAX,with a SWAN lab coat and his ARM and DARK HAIR. WHY AFTER '77? the Orchid was not fully built in '77,it was still under construction and not operational-but it was fully functional on the tapes and they had the bunny tele-porters and a good grasp on how everything worked. PROBLEM? Chang has both ARMS! He should have the fake arm.
4)SWAN FILM(1980)-starring MARVIN CANDLE,with DHARMA lab coat and FAKE ARM and GRAYING HAIR.this was clearly filmed after the Incident due to Chang's missing arm and at the time around the Incident,Radzinsky was still working on the SWAN model that appears in the film and in '77 the SWAN was still under the beginning stages construction and was also copyrighted 1980.
5)PEARL TAPE(1980)-starring MARK WICKMUND,with NORMAL CLOTHES(No LAB coat!)and BOTH ARMS!? and DARK HAIR!? PROBLEM? Chang has full use of his ARMS and has DARK HAIR again!and it was filmed after the Incident?(Well,what if they filmed it before?the Pearl has been around since 71-72)...they didn't..WHY? Chang talks about doing Experiments on observing people in the SWAN hatch and clearly the SWAN was not up and running with anything until '78-'79(maybe even months after the Incident)at this time..Chang's arm is gone.
and last...the hardest one to determine....
FLAME COMPUTER VIDEO(after '77 maybe even after 1985)-starring NO INTRO(It's clearly Chang),with FLAME lab coat and FAKE ARM and GRAYING HAIR. WHY AFTER '77/'85? Chang's missing ARM,the Chess game moves were from the finals of the CHESS World Championships of 1985,and they had a SATELLITE UP LINK! If you look up the history of the Internet(and all it's caveman forms)-the Internet was tested in the early 80's,built in '85,commercial use in '88 and '91 to '96 it was public/common...so it's safe to say after 1985 for the FLAME video.
.....I THINK THAT CHANG IS MARVIN CANDLE AND MILES IS WICKMUND & HALLIWAX! and here is why? What if by something...Miles is alive and well in 1977 and ends up living from that point on.Him and Pops(with out Mom and baby Miles) spark a relationship and start to work together on the island and years start to pass and Miles starts to age to were he starts to look like his father(it could happen...look at the Baldwins..talk about attack of the clones!),and what if they split up the filming duties? This would explain the differences with the ORCHID and PEARL tapes/videos that were filmed after the Incident.This would also explain him having his Arm in the Orchid tape(maybe cause of the fake arm and it having metal in it-Miles stepped in for Dad-Remember..NO metal objects near the Tele-porter),also Miles is under the Impression that you can't touch your past or future self(He gets this from Dan's ramblings and Locke talking about that night at the Hatch with the light turning ! on),this reminds me of Chang's flip out over the bunnies possibly touching each other(that would def make sense if that was Miles instead of Chang).
So what I am saying is BOTH men are playing the parts on the films/tapes.Miles(who has aged a couple years)is the younger Chang w Dark Hair and Pierre is of course the older graying,fake arm Chang.
I don't base this Theory on WHH or ALT or TMZ or E.T. or WWE or JFK or any other goofy NAME. I'm basing my theory on me watching and putting two and two together....so CHEER me or BOO me...None of us have truly broke the tape time lines down and I think it's time to take another look...I think we are missing something the tapes are telling us.
