Here's my theory on how good ol' Rich first comes to the island.
He's on the Black Rock!
My theory suggests that the Black Rock isn't a slave ship after all -- it's full of explorers and sea men, and the like.
The Black Rock crew comes to the island (as we know by Jacob's will) but much like the Dharma Initiative, most of the people are belligerent and harmful, and most importantly, not worthy of the Island.
-- except for Richard. Jacob must have said "Oh shit, that's the mayor from Batman! He can stay". So, much like in the situation with Ben and the DI, Richard offers himself to work for the Island, and his initiation is to "purge" the rest of the Black Rock crew. The people chained up in the brig are not slaves at all, they are actually his boat mates that he somehow tricks, chains up, and murders.
**Also, as we know from season 4 (of Lost) and from the ARG circa season 2, Magnus Hanso was quite possible the commander of the Black Rock. In season 5, we hear Richard addressed for the first time as "Ricardus"...
RICARDUS, and MAGNUS?? Definitely in cahoots there. Maybe everyone on the ship had cool latin names.
Also, on the Blast Door Map that we see in "Lockdown", Magnus Hanso is apparently buried near the Black Rock! The question is, why is Magnus buried but everyone else is still locked up? We will have to see...any sub-theories??
Some further citation from Lostpedia: (Meanings of the Name and References): "Magnus was one of the greatest alchemists of all time, and was also the discoverer of the legendary "Philosopher's Stone" (which could allegedly be combined with certain metals to create a youth-preserving elixir) and the creator of a supernatural device, an automaton which he named "Android." Using the "angels from the netherworld" and the powers of the Philosopher's Stone, he created "metals and material unknown to this world" and chose them "according to the stars and planets." This "android" was instilled with the powers of speech, thought, and according to some reports, a soul. Upon completion of this project, his student St. Thomas Aquinas destroyed the "diabolic being" and denounced it as "a tool of Satan and a blasphemy to God."
anyone see some correlation to Richard's non-aging? and perhaps a blueprint of what the smoke monster could possibly be?? this is likely a coincidence but you never know with LOST.
looks like you guys just got a bunch of theories for the price of one! what do you think?
