I have always wondered, why doesn't just Jacob or MIB just try to kill each other? Why go through all of this? Just like how Superman won't kill lex. Superman says that the people will put him in jail. Jacob says the people will judge MIB.
Jacob and MIB aren't judging humanity. Humanity will judge them.
MIB and Jacob won't kill each other because it goes against everything there doing. It is a battle of, who is the better person. Who deserves the island. MIB and Jacob gave Ben a choice to kill Jacob. It was Ben's choice. Ben judged Jacob and Ben reacted.
I believe next season will be the season of judging. MIB will use smokey to judge the losties and the losties will judge MIB.
