I love all the theories and I have some crazy ones myself. But when I really sit and think about what is actually going to happen I keep coming back to really simple answers (this is primetime tv after all).
It seems there is 1 timeline. Once something happens on this timeline it happened. What makes this thing happen can change (guy in red shoes avoids scaffolding and gets hit by a car, but he's still dead).
There are only 2 ways people can know what is about to happen: 1) they are in a time loop and have seen this all before or 2) Someone who is jumping through time tells them what is going to happen (faraday's journal, locke telling richard to talk to locke, etc.). I think #2 is really what is going on here and in Season 6 we are going to see a lot of the Locke telling Richard to tell other Locke to do something type scenes or Ellie consulting the journal.
In the end, the message will be that what has happened has happened and even if you could change it, should you? would you? What is most important is to learn from the past, don't be afraid to make mistakes and live the best you can.
The End.
Oh yeah - and always do what is best for the island otherwise you're friggin' dead
