Darlton has suggested that Season 6 will have a very “Season 1” feel to it. I think this is a massive “hidden in plain sight” clue to at least some of the final season.
I think that Season 6 will have a Season 1 “feel” because our 77 Losties will find themselves either reliving (a la Desmond mind jumping) or viewing some of the events of Season 1.
Here’s what I think could happen. In the S5 finale when the bomb goes off Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sawyer, Jin and Sayid’s consciousness’ are flashed back to past versions of themselves. Their ’77 bodies appear lifeless hence validating Alphert’s “I saw them all die” comment. Maybe he or Ellie was instructed by Jacob to take their bodies to the temple for safe keeping, not necessarily understanding why.
In the first episode of S6 we will see our losties “dead” bodies and Alphert acquiring them and we will be left wondering what the hell is going on and what is Alphert/Ellie going to do with the bodies. Then the next few episodes will focus on Jacks, Kates etc’s consciousness jumping to various times and events that we previously saw in S1. An example being Jack knowing exactly where to run in the first scene of the pilot episode.
I think during these flashes they will either make a subtle yet significant change or learn something that will be valuable to the coming war. We will then at some stage see an Alphert episode where, among other things we learn that Jacob TOUCHED him giving him his ageless disposition. OMG does this mean he’s done the same for Jack, Kate etc when he touched them??
2009….Jacob has just been stabbed by Ben and with his last breath whispers “They’re Coming”. Locke/Esau seems concerned. Of course he does, as far as he was aware Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Jin and Sawyer all died in 1977…..
BAM! Jack, Kate etc are flashed back to their perfectly un aged bodies that Alphert has patiently stored in the Temple since 1977. Jacobs backup plan is in motion and the War is well and truly on!
