I think the Egyptian tapestry that Jacob has been weaving may be more than just a wall decoration or hobby. I think it could be crucial to how he influences the outcome of events on the island and perhaps the world. Or it could be his recording of events that have already happened.
If you notice, when we first meet him in Part 1 of the season 5 finale, he is weaving the tapestry and it looks to be about ½ finished. But at the end, when Ben enters his place to kill him, the tapestry is almost, if not totally, completed.
So that means that when, what we think is the Black Rock, is off shore in the beginning he’s already been working on it for some time. Perhaps bringing others to the island.
He takes such care creating the threads and weaving them into the final product. I’m wondering if these threads and designs on the final tapestry are one of the ways he controls people and events to reach his desired outcome. Perhaps his weaving has some sort of mystical power.
There are human figures, some monkeys at the bottom and plenty of writing in another language, Latin? (translation anyone?) At the top is a great winged creature with a single eye and outstretched legs, arms or something reaching 9 people with arms reaching upwards. On either side of the tapestry sits a man. Could it be Jacob and the MIB?
This weaving is slow and deliberate work that requires a lot of patience. He nudges, gives people choices and trusts that ultimately humans will overcome their desires to fight. destroy and corrupt. And it would be their choice.
Of course he can travel off island and touch people, ultimately bringing them to the island. But my guess that what he is doing is more complex that just touching.
He has a plan and it’s woven into the tapestry. And he only finishes it once. Is it complete, or is there just a bit more to be woven? IT looks complete to me.
Just a thought, but maybe the MIB uses smokey and Jacob uses the tapestry.
Feel free to consider and add your thoughts. This is really just something that struck me as I rewatched the last episodes.
