I posted this like a month ago on another forum, but I don't think anyone really saw it... so yeah. Here goes.
So, Locke turned out the be the man in black, the anti-Jacob... but I had always speculated Locke WAS Jacob... clearly I was wrong, but apparently not by much. Which got me thinking, if Locke isn't Jacob, who is? Could Jacob have this same power?
There was only one logical explanation I could come up with. Claire is Jacob. What if Claire died on the Oceanic flight 815 crash? If we assume Christian's body was taken over by the man in black, perhaps Claire's body (with the unborn, yet still alive Aaron) was taken over by Jacob. Perhaps the only reason her baby was able to be born on the island-of-miscarriages-and-mothers-dying was with the help of Jacob. Perhaps, in a sense, the only children who can be born on the island are somehow "blessed" by Jacob (if he, in fact, did not embody the women himself).
I've always wondered why Claire wandered out in the middle of the night last season never to be seen again and why of all places she appeared in the cabin with Christian - who was in fact, speaking for Jacob. (Perhaps Jacob can take over the bodies people, but not the minds??) In that encounter, Christian would have been the man in black and Claire would have been Jacob... Claire, who as i recall didn't really say much in that scene, if anything.
Perhaps Claire's disappearance into the woods that night was a result of the time shift, but perhaps it was Jacob simply ditching the body for whatever purpose. Now, this whole Claire was dead from the get-go may not quite be the right direction to go, but it would certainly be cool if Jacob has something to do with embodying her... or at least affecting the outcome of her pregnancy (which would essentially make Aaron the son of Jacob in a way... or perhaps Jacob himself... I've always wondered why the ancient Jacob and his black-clad companion speak with modern American dialects... perhaps this could be an explanation)...
