After looking at Desmond's mural from The Swan (post-season 5 finale), I think that a few theories and suspicions can be confirmed.
First of all, as the mural was painted by Desmond, I think that due to his traveling consciousness (and possibly also an effect of a time loop), a side effect is that Desmond has the ability to glimpse at memories that he has yet to experience and events that will happen in the future, similar to the way that he was able to predict the death of Charlie, however much more implicit.
With that said I think that Desmond's creative mural was influenced by factors that had not yet happened at the time of the painting.
One of these and the most prominent for me is the dark figure who I believe represents Anti Jacob. This character who many including myself have speculated to be the monster is shown to have an arm that fades into a spiral shape that resembles smoke, especially when compared to the young John Locke's drawing of the monster. The smoke then becomes a creature with jaws and a large eye, which seems to represent The Monster and it's ability to see into the lives of other's and judge them. This whole image seems to show that the being representing darkness on the island can also take form of the monster or at the very least be in command of it, which fits with many theories and observations made about 'Locke' during the episode Dead is Dead.
The figure also seems to have a white face (from the neck and ears) but is wearing a black mask and priest's outfit, which appears to show Anti-Jacob's ability to 'mask himself' as other beings, in this case Yemi (who has already been confirmed to have been a manifestation of the monster when he appeared to Eko before his demise).
Another clue that seems to jump out are the intentions of this character. While watching the opening of the finale, and also the confrontation between 'Locke' and Jacob at the end of the episode it is apparent that Anti-Jacob is possibly evil or has bad intentions.
While I don't necessarily believe he is 'Evil', from looking at the mural I do believe that he is not one of 'the good guys' as they are referred to so often due to the eyes depicted on the entity. There appears to be one black and one white eye, similar to in Claire's dream of Locke, (which could also be symbolism for the future of John being both light and dark at different points in time, and another hint that the dark figure in the mural is connected to Locke).
The white eye of the figure is crossed out, as if to make a point that Anti-Jacob is indeed a villain, although in a show as deep as Lost, the roles of light and dark could be argued.
Thank you for reading.
