So this is just a brief thought, but I'm thinking that we can now safely say that there is a good posibility the statue is destroyed in the same manner the Black Rock is brought inland... Tidal wave.
Previously,I had assumed (as I think many have) that the Black Rock ended up so far inland because the island "appeared" under it. The finale has shown us that this is not the case, that the ship is actually off shore. The statue is also intact. I think the combination of these two images in the opening scene may be more than just coincidence.
Perhaps the tidal wave is a natural occurance, but I believe that is in fact manufactured by Jacob and/or his nemesis, most likely the later. He seems to be interested in keeping the island a secret, asking how they found it and showing utter disdain for mankind in general. By destroying their ship, he prevents them from ever leaving the island.
This same tidal wave would completely destroy the statue, being directly in the way (assuming the Black Rock doesn't move too much). I think this explanation is reasonable due to the fact that we see absolutely no rubble from the statue, implying that it was washed away. Also, with the Black Rock so close to the shore, I can find no other reasonable explanation for how it made it so far inland and appears to be capsised.
