A major character has not been killed since Charlie way back in season 3. I guess you could consider Locke but he came back to life...This is why Sawyer is going to be the one to die. First of all i think it will be an original cast member. The writers can kill pretty much anyone they want since the series is coming to its last season...Sawyer is the one that will die because he is done. He has developed into an amazing leader, and has led Dharma for three years and fell in love with Juliet and has been truly happy. But we all know that the Dharma tale is going to end soon therefore Sawyers purpose is no longer needed. You may think...why not anyone else...well from the main cast members lets look at why no one else.
Jack- Could be considered the face of Lost, and we all know that he will have some part to play in the endgame in the series finale.
Locke- Locke just died and has now come back from the dead and is doing the islands bidding...they would not bring him back to just kill him again...(Michael is an acception :)
Hurley- Hurley is the key to it all, the island cannot touch him because he is not supposed to be there...also he and charlie were very similar characters they would not kill to similar characters like that.
Ben- Ben is one that i am a little iffy on, his story seems to be ending but then again he is Ben and always has something up his sleeve, im pretty sure that the island is not done with him
Juliet- As far as i can think Juliet really hasn't had a major contribution to the island other than the whole maternity thing, i think just like Sawyers character was she will soon have a major part to play later on
Kate- Kate is just starting to develop as a character FINALLY, she is way to important to the story to kill and is in a way like jack the female face of Lost
Sun and Jin- They have to reunite and everything has to be happy...its gonna happen and you all know it
That is the main cast...who does that leave to die then Sawyer...i love Sawyer to death (no pun intended.) but sadly i think he is the one that is going to kick the bucket in the finale...but when he dies he will be saving many lives in the process....
