Lost Theory
This is my second post, my first one was shot down, I have tried to take that on board and explain things slightly differently this time around.
My theory revolves around a time loop.
It may be quite complex to put into words so I will do my best to keep this a precise and to the point as possible
1) The island / Island time has been going on for a lot longer than we have been shown.
2) The events have all played themselves out before
3) Because they have played themselves out before the ‘hostiles’ know how to manipulate each individual.
4) There are two separate factions on the Island, the island itself and another group led by Jacob. Each wanting separate things.
5) The version of Lost we are watching now, is in effect the last time the time loop.
Ill try to explain point by point.
1. I think that the island has been in existence for a long time. Since its beginning it has had people explore it, farm it and try to harness it. The first version of lost time resulted in a catastrophic war. Not sure who between yet. So they turned the donkey wheel and went back in time to try and avoid it. Changing something each time they went back. This could well be the 10th version of this group trying to change what happened.
2. In each version, flight 815 always crashed, but in one version, they died, the next they didn’t find the hatch, the next Hurley missed the plane etc etc. Hence why everything HAD to be perfect this time around. To get all the key players on the island to make the losties do what they need to do.
3. Each time that lost has played out, the war has not been avoided, so one of the original inhabitants then went back and planted and manipulated each of the losties to ensure that they made the flight and did what they were supposed to, in order to save the world.
4. The two separate factions, I believe, are the island itself and those who believe in destiny (constants) and those who don’t and try to avoid the outcome fate (variables). I think that Jacob is the leader of the ‘variables’. He has been there since the beginning and has seen everything before. Popping in and out of peoples lives. The other group is a collective of enlightened minds who try to avoid the end outcome, including Ms Hawking, Widmore. (now I know Hawking has always said you cant change the past, but maybe this has been said to challenge people to prove her wrong). Each group is fighting with each other, one trying to let fate win out and the catastrophic event to happen, the other to stop it. I also think that the dead people we see are apparitions made by the island. (I may have got the two sides mixed up and who is on whose side)
5. I think that in season 6, the big reveal will be that the island has gone through the same thing over and over again. But this time things are different, The war has been ended and humanity will prevail.
The last part of my theory is that in preparation of the big event, the island has been gathering people to stay on there to be saved from whatever is going to happen. Which is why the Others wanted to have children there to set up a last place of human survival, And when they realised that this might be impossible they set about trying to change things.
Now, I have read that back and I think it makes sense. I would love to hear your thoughts.
