..but it will be 'ok.' This is how I see this all going down for the finale.
So now that we have seen "The Variable" we can now see tptb putting in place the pieces they need to in order to have yet another explosive finale. In "Jughead" we see Dan tell his mother that 50 years from "now" everything is fine and a hydrogen bomb has not gone off. I don't think he was lying, but I do think he was wrong.
We know that the exotic matter found throughout the island (Swan Orchid..etc) is the key to time travel, and we also know that Dan's plan was to use the h-bomb on the Swan to prevent the incident. I believe that:
Someone will follow through with Daniel's plan. They will find a way to get the bomb to the Swan but it will just be a tad bit too late. The leak will begin, and the bomb THEN goes off. Because of the incredible leak a "wormhole" of sorts (Darlton have eluded to this before) will open during the climax sending the blast to a moment in the past. But what moment? The moment when the statue was destroyed.
Because of this incident women would no longer be able to birth children and I believe it will also send out losties back to their right time. It makes sense, we know the bomb was either detonated in the future or a moment far enough in the past so that the negative effects have already worn off. Otherwise we would have seen the effects already at some point in the show, and we haven't. So while the leak does cause harm from that point on, the bomb would not.
It would also be quite poetic in my opinion. When the leak happens and the wormhole opens it will place 2 time periods in the exact same moment (2 points on a piece of paper, just fold the paper so that those two points are touching, like explained in Event Horizon lol just folding space/time). So if that did happen, the moment when the childbirth problem began would have been the exact same moment jughead destroyed the statue..and many have assumed the statue was Taweret who is the guardian of childbirth. We know the statue was already destroyed in '77 but we also know Ethan was born then so the birth problem hadn't begun yet. If TPTB were wanting to have the statue destroyed the same moment the birth problem began this is the only way I can see it happening. And I do NOT see them not having them coincide, because what would be the point?
Dunno, thanks for reading though.
