Jacob is a jerk.
First of all, just because he's in white doesn't mean he's good. Celine Dion dresses in white; Johnny Cash dressed in black. I'm not saying Jacob is as bad as Celine Dion, but he's still a jerk.
He brings the Black Rock to the Island, so that (apparently) everyone can fight it out. The slaves don't even get released... their skeletons are still in shackles.
He tells Richard to bring Juliet to the Island, then she's not allowed to leave.
More importantly, he screws up people's lives. Who knows what's the guitar case (other than perhaps a guitar) but he goes to visit little Kate and instead of her getting in trouble, he pays for the lunchbox. That lunchbox leads to all sorts of trouble later on, plus, maybe if the store owner had called Kate's mom, Kate would have learned an important lesson.
He stop Sayid on the sidewalk and Nadia gets killed. Maybe she was being targeted by Widmore's people (why?) but all we know is that Ben recruits Sayid based on fairly flimsy evidence (one easily-faked traffic light photo). Either way--Widmore, or accident--it is possible that Nadia wouldn't have died if Jacob hadn't stopped Sayid.
Boy Sawyer's life was messed up enough, but Jacob had to go and give him a pen to finish the letter. Sawyer might not have ever finished that letter, and would have had a chance to (like his uncle said) to move past this. Jacob made sure that didn't happen.
What has Jacob done that's actually been good or decent or helpful?
Jacob = Jerk.
