it has been debated that john is a manifestation of the smoke monster or not. but....i belive that john is a manifestation of smokey. now the reason why i think john wants to kill jacob is three different possibilities:
1. once jacob has been killed he will be rejuvinated and become like john himself. personally i dont belive this theory i heard it from a friend
2. he is going to kill jacob bec he is testing ben to see if he will keep to his word bec he is the smoke monster and will kill ben for not listening.
3. he is going to kill jacob for sinning. and he is going to judge him.the reason why the smoke monster nedded john to judge jacob bec of the ash that surroundes the cabin. it kept out the smoke monster but now in human form he is uneffected by it. so why was christian able to go in the cabin...? bec the ash wasnt there anymore. john asks ben where the ash went. and when they find the cabin the ash is gone. why didnt christian judge jacob? bec jacob wasnt on the island at the time. now that jacob is back the smoke monster is using john as a cover to infiltrate the cabin and judge/kill jacob.
