I dont think the bomb will be detonated, because if it would, there wouldn't be much left of the island. So there must be something stopping it. My guess is: the island will. Seconds before the explosion, the island "absorbs" the bombs power, which will cause the incident.
There is no way how they could stop the plane crash. Jack will ultimately cause the incident, thanks to the course correction and the losties will be took back into their time. The reason why there was a picture of the losties back in '77 was because they where there the whole time. They started everything.

After the escape of Sayid and the other losties, they new they wouldnt survive another hostile attack. so they will build the tempest, to be prepared for the next assault. Unfortunately, the hostiles will take over the station, leading to "the purge".
