From reading different people's theories, there seems to be a consensus that at the beginning of the finale, Jacob was wearing white (representing Good) and the other guy was wearing black (representing Evil). While Jacob did visit Ilana in the hospital and asked for her help, I think this is to mislead us.
I say this, because if the White/Black (Dark) has any relevance like so many people seem to believe, then take a look at Ilana, Bram and all their other follower's clothing. They are all wearing Dark clothes. Furthermore, when Bram tells Frank Lapidus that they are the "good guys," Frank blatantly states, "usually the ones who say they're the good guys are the bad guys." And Bram just smiles.
Another thing to think about is that Bram and Ilana go to the cabin, but never say they are going to find Jacob. We only think that is Jacob's cabin because that is where Ben took Locke, and Ben has never spoken to Jacob. Let's remember that the cabin was encircled by ash, seeming to keep someone prisoner. And when Richard went to find Jacob, he went straight to the statue, knowing that is where Jacob lived...not in the cabin. Thus, I think that the evil man (dark clothing character from the beginning) was being kept in the cabin, as a prisoner, and when Locke went there and someone said "help me", it wasn't Jacob but his enemy. That is why he said to move the island, and yadda yadda because it was his way to find the loophole and kill Jacob. Also, if you look at the picture of "Jacob" from Season 3, it doesn't look like Jacob, it looks like his nemesis.
Therefore, I actually think that Bram and Ilana will be the "bad guys" in the War (partnering with Jacob's nemesis), and ultimately Whidmore (strong believer/supporter of Jacob) will join with the losties in present time (who go there after detonating the bomb), to have some sort of War.
From Jacob's visit to Ilana, it is obvious they have met before. Maybe Ilana is mad at him for something and wants revenge? We shall see.
