Alot of people seem to be coming back to the comic-con video starring Dr. Chang and an apparent Daniel behind the scenes. I'm not sure, this didn't seem particularly canonical, I'm undecided on that. If it were true, it could mean several things;
- Daniel could survive his gunshot, Pierre Chang could have a change of heart and believe him after all the happenings of recent events.
- It could be from another timeline in which Daniel came back and managed to talk Pierre into in the first place.
- or it could just be TPTB, at the time, teasing us about the topics of the upcoming topics/plotlines of Lost season 5.
Apart from the comic-con filmclip some things are known;
- The Swan is currently being built, regardless of the 06 being in '77 or not.
- Ben Linus is a kid, has been taken to the others temple and healed, regardless of 06 interference we don't know whether this has always happened.
- At the end of 'the Variable' there is 2 hours remaining before 'the Incident'.
'The incident doesn't seem to worry me as much as anyone else, I dont think it is going to be as devastating as some people think, for there is definite evidence of the future. There is future evidence of The DHARMA initiative surviving beyond 'the incident'. Assuming WH,H the swan is built, the pearl is used to monitor the Swan BY DHARMA and Ben ages atleast another 10 years before initiating the purge, this means that the DA survives another 10 or so years atleast.
Now to the swan, according to the initiation video, pairs work on shifts and then return to the barracks, before another pair takes over and performs their roster. So we're to assume this is the protocol, I think this occurs up until a point just prior to the purge, Radzinsky and Kelvin are on duty, they are then forced to continually live in the Swan because Dharma have been killed off the island, they end up spending years down there, believing they are the only people left from Dharma, they carry on, getting food drops from Dharma, etc. One day Radzinsky can't take it, perhaps a hostile decides to IM him through the computer, he decides to make a lovely brain mural on the ceiling, Kelvin has to take over for a while, alone, through survivors guilt he pushes the button for years, enter Desmond.
Meanwhile, the others/hostiles don't care about the swan, as far as they're concerned, its stupid, Jacob will prevent the release of energy effecting the island, they feel that pushing the button is irrelevent, which is evident on Bens face when hes held captive there.
Jacob is an important character, he hates technology, he needs help, he seems to be a prisoner exploited for his knowledge, seeing as those in power always know what "jacob wants". I believe that Jacob is a possible time traveller from the future, like desmond, eloise, daniel, he has become displaced in time, his constant however IS THE ISLAND, its what keeps him from going the way of Sminkowsky, he is there to protect the island by ensuring future events/people play out, purely for the protection of the island. Heck, he may even be Daniel himself after hes tried to change things for the 50th time...
I know its garbled, but let us know if you agree/don't agree with anything.
