Ok, Im prepared to be shot to pieces but Im holding on for Dan still to be alive...ready?
OK, we've seen Pierre talking to the camera just before the purge here:

And who is his camera-man? Daniel Faraday.
Now, when Daniel gets shot, not only has the Purge (which Chang mentions in the video) not happened, we know that this is well after the Incident.
The Incident occurs in 1977, same day Dan is shot.
The Purge occurs late 80's/early 90's, Dan shoots the video with Chang before this.
Now, we know that Daniel and Chang couldn't have recorded this in the three years Dan spent as part of Dharma, or when he arrived back from Ann Arbour because in the video Chang talks of "the future" and seems resigned to the fact that everyone is going to die.
But in "The Variable" during the conversation at The Orchid, Chang did not believe Dan when he said he was from the future, and dismissed him.
So, my theory is that Daniel is still alive, and somehow survives the gunshot, ends up recording the video seen at Comic Con with Dharma then either escapes the island via Sub, he dies along with Dharma in The Purge, or he survives The Purge and is alive on-island.
Either way, Chang has done what he is "supposed to do" and continued Dharma (and Daniel's) work by sending the video to the future in order to get New Dharma back to the island. This is who I believe Bram and Illana belong to, and who the upcoming 'war' will be against.
