ok so this is a "small" theory of mine that just popped into my head... apologies if this has been posted previously
First of all this theory has major spoilers from Stephen King's saga "The Dark Tower" so if anyone is reading that magnificent book(s) should not read this theory or he will be spoiled ;)
OK now that all is set right i can begin
In the Dark Tower saga we have a hero named Roland who seems to be living in a world close to our own but at the same time a lot different (it has its forests and lakes and rivers- even New York city but burned to the ground eons ago)
Along with some companions that he picks on the road Roland tries to find the Dark Tower which is the center of time and space in his world. An evil creature named the "Crimson King" tries to destroy the Tower and if that happens Roland's world ends because tof the Tower's powers to bind the universe together.... Roland must stop him.
The first book of the saga called "The last Gunslinger" starts with Roland experiencing a dizziness which he thinks is from the heat of the desert. He suddenly thinks of and old friend of his. He also feels bad for losing his friend's horn, the only thing that he had to remember him.
In the end of the saga Roland kills the Crimson King, reaches the Tower and the Tower itself sends him right back to the start where he felt that dizzyness, telling him that its his path to always reach the tower and its the Tower's path to send him right back from the start.... only this time, the time that we read the saga the Tower tells him that someday he may be be free of his pre-determined destiny of being sent back from where he begun, always doing the circle, always suffering.
This is because this time Roland did something right (we never know what it is) and this time he seems to be rewarded... the time where Roland stars again wondering the desert for the Tower he has with him his friend's horn... he actually never loses it! something in the end is different and all his misery may one day end if one litle thing such as this can change...
Anyone with a few brains can tell how much LOST has drawn form this wonderful 3000 pages story.... I am not saying that the series will have a very close ending to that of the book but i will stand still on the fact that if the ending is bitter-sweet (i bet it will be!) it will be just because we may see our Losties again on flight 815 but with a small, teeenneee weeeneee change.... maybe Jin and Sun happy together, or Charlie being still famous, happy and drug free, or Claire flying along with her husband or Kate and Jack already together before the crash, Sawyer with wife and little Clementine... something that will tell us that things can be changed, even if the change is small, if it is for the better this "Whole Missery We've been through" as Jack sais in "Follow The Leader" may be worth to be experienced again... maybe even 108 itmes ;)
