So after reading many theories I have come to my conclusion that whatever happened, happened. I believe that the O6 in their present in the 1970's they have helped shape the future though they have no knowledge of what they did. So how the future is and has always been is what they made it and what we are seeing in their present (1970's) is what they did to help shape the future, it's just the O6 have no knowledge of it and are experiencing it now.
I do believe Jack succeeds in finding Jughead and trying to prevent the incident though he causes the incident thinking that he can prevent it from knowledge by Daniel that an incident will occur.
It seems Eloise and Widmore know what is going to happen up until one point where they meet outside the hospital after Desmond/Penny/Ben shooting. Eloise must have read Daniel's diary and acquired knowledge of the future because she uses the line "Sacrifice! I just sent my son back to that island knowing well that.." So this basically is proving that Widmore and Eloise worked together to shape the future on how it is meant to be.
If they did not send Farraday back to the island, I do believe somehow the universe would of have corse corrected it making Farraday end up in the Hostiles camp anyway where his mother shoots him.
