Finally I have a possible answer to my question of why Widmore told Ben, “I know WHAT you are, boy.” That WHAT always bothered me because he didn’t say WHO which implies being a person. Ben became a “what”, non-person, when Richard took him into the Temple where Ben lost his innocence and was healed, probably with the help of the smoke monster. And thank-you to touzoku for getting me started thnking about all of this.
Damon and Carlton often joke about the zombie season in their podcasts. I always thought it was really off the wall. But now I’m not so sure. There’s been some emphasis on the others wanting dead bodies this season. So maybe Richard knows how to revive the dead, but once that happens, they are no longer human in the traditional sense of the word, and I suppose you could jokingly call them zombies. And I bet they do at least the smoke monster’s bidding if not the Island’s. Perhaps these others are the "dark side" of the Island and Locke and Christian represent the "light side".
Widmore knows about what happened to little Ben. And maybe (I’m going out on a limb here) the final conflict is between Widmore and Richard. I think that was set up in WHH when Richard refuses to consult Widmore and Elle about “saving” Ben.
And maybe the reason the others can’t have children is because these “revived” people can’t reproduce. I refuse to use the word zombie because these others are a much more sophisticated version of what that word has implied in horror movies and t.v. shows.
And has anyone heard any more about Lost season 6 being cancelled? Theory by Carole Anne
