Not sure if anyone noticed this, but it's is starting to look like the Temple is a huge parallel to the tree of knowledge in the garden of Eden.
With the tree of knowledge, when you eat its fruit, you are full of knowledge of the world, but your innocents is gone. Something changes.
The Temple looks like it is the same concept. Those who come out of the Temple have different behavior that seems to encompass an overall knowledge of something more, but this knowledge is a burden and take away ones innocence.
A lot of the Others act very different, like Widmore, Richard, Mikhail, Bea and Ben. I would guess that all of these people have been in the Temple. Danielle's crew is the same, they came out of the Temple different than before, but also seems to know something more. Have they been enlightened, or are they no longer pure? Theory by Lost Dbutz
