So, after our most recent episode of our beloved show, I think we need to revisit the conversation Ben and Roger had in the van.
Let's do that now...
Ben:"Do you really blame me?"
Roger:"For what"
Ben:"Do you really think it's my fault that SHE died?"
Roger:"What do I know?"
........
Ben:"You know, I've missed her too, maybe as much as you have. But the difference is, for as long as I can remember, I've had to put up with you."
We are supposed to think that they are talking about Ben's mother, after all, that's what the rest of his flashbacks were revolving around, but I now think they are most decidedly NOT talking about Mama Linus. All the other times these two chuckle ducks talk about a woman dying, Roger has NO hesitation to point out to Ben that Ben's birth resulted in the death of his mother. He almost sadistically seems to enjoy torturing Ben like this. The feel of this conversation is completely different. Furthermore, it's just impossible for Ben to miss his mother. He never met her. He can't miss her, it's just illogical. You can't miss something you've never known. For those of you who don't own a PS3, you can't say Oh, I miss my PS3 SO MUCH!
I think this female they are talking about here is either Juliet or Kate. Smart money, Kate. Why? Well her and Roger seemed to have some sort of connection. Sure Roger is gross and Kate is hot, but plenty of gross guys get hot girls, look at Tom Cruise.
If this is right, it shows how well planned out things have been from all the way back in Season 3. With the Whatever Happened, Happened bit even winning over the likes of Monika now :) (Hi Monika!), this would further cement it. It'd even help us understand why Ben is so flat out bizzarely nice to Kate before locking her up in a cage. Sure, he may not remember being shot (if Richard is telling us the truth), but he'd certainly remember everything AFTER being healed, right? If Kate becomes his "adoptvie mother", perhaps in an effort to steer him to being "good", he may indeed "miss her too."
Of course, it could be Juliet they are referring to as well, as she "looks just like her." But my smart money is still on Kate. Perhaps it's wishfull thinking because I like Juliet's character more than Kate, and while this past episode made me hope a little bit less that Kate dies, I'm still going to smile broadly when and if she does. I'm tired of her. But that's just me.
So, the theory....they were talking about Kate...not Mama Ben. It would be a really good twist, and based on where things CAN go from here, a logical one. I mean, Kate went way above and beyond to save little Ben, from giving him her blood, to putting her life on the line driving him to Richard...No wonder Roger and about to be Dharma killer Ben miss her...
This also means that somehow, something will happen to Kate (again, if I'm right) that can be construed as Ben's fault that led to her death.
What that may be, I have no idea. Theory by Johnny the Chemist
