This theory is based off of my first theory, that Jack and the Gang somehow stay in the 70's and live out there lives on the island (in hiding sometimes). I think Ben has been following their lead this whole time (since the shooting). I believe that Ben was just someone to ensure they would be "hurt and broken" people, when then they arrived in the 70's. That was all posted under "Ben answers to the Losties". Anyway, on with the Juliet part.
In order to stay in the 1970's and fulfill their "mission" on the island, they will need to hook up with Richard. Why? Well the purge will kill them if they can't time travel back. How? Other than lots of convincing chit chat and details (about Locke, the bomb), how about Juliet's brand on her back?
The meaning has never been discussed. As an audience we were lead to believe it meant something bad, as a punishment for killing one of her own. Once Juliet was branded, she was banished and sent off with the Losties. I think two important things occurred here, Ben told Juliet (remember they spoke in private and he promised to let her go) to do ANYTHING to keep Kate and Sawyer alive. So "wink, wink", yes kill Pickett if you need to. And this, was all a good reason to brand her and send her off with the Losties. How else would they explain this all to her then? "Umm....Juliet, you really are going to be a time traveler and I need to brand you as such. Plus, you need to leave us and hang with the 815 folks for a bit, because that is really why we brought you here to this weird island. You need to go back in time and deliver Ethan." Haha....maybe not...!
I think Juliet's brand means something all together different (than we were lead to believe), and it will be something important to Richard or another "Other". Maybe it's the sign of a time traveler....? Maybe it's a sign of a special person within their society. Or just something that Richard will recognize, like the compass with Locke.
