I just watched a rerun of man behind the curtain tonight on abc. I can finally say that i have a lead on who i think jacob is. If you all rewatch the episode im sure you will agree. Jacob is Horus. The first hint of this is when Locke and ben go to the cabin. If you use DVR or have it on DVD you can slow down the split second picture of JAcob after he says "help me" and throws a fit. Jacob is clearly a white man, with the appearance of being in his 50s, slightly balding in the front, with long hair on top and a scruffy beard. After this legendary scene we see the purge occur ina flashback and we see a dead horus. He matches all of these characterstics, notciably the hair and scruff. Granted it could be anyone but if anyone here can post pics of this i would greatly appreciate a comparison because it is overwhelmingly similiar. Another hint i got from the cabin was the 4 jars in the room during several shots. The! four sons of horus are a group of 4 gods in egyptian religion. They were said to be pieces of horus that were put in jars. These parts were vital organs during the mummification process.
This is from wikipedia:
"As the king, or Pharaoh was seen as a manifestation of, or especially protected by, Horus, these parts of the deceased pharaoh, referred to as the Osiris, were seen as parts of Horus, or rather, his children,[5] an association which did not diminish with each successive pharaoh"
MAybe horus somehow (possibly the incident) can transcend time and is the islands leader. He cant die, even though he did physically. Horus is the leader of the dharama and we dont know his origins. Maybe he passes down leadership such as pharaoahs were passed on from the god horus. this is why the others need leaders.
Read this its really interesting how you can relate the sons of horus to key characters in lost. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_sons_of_Horus
Its a stretch but maybe each othe the lost characters that share the charcterists of JAcob have a role in this big puzzle. MAybe their theyre there to help JAcob(Horus)
Anyone who reads this should really check out man behind the curtain againTheory by SDOT
