Just some bit I have been thinking Charlotte Born Darma Ends up working for Widmore. Daniel Faraday is working for Widmore they both got to the island on the freighter. Widmore funded his research. Also is paying for the care of the woman in (coma)? Who is this is it charlotte???
We know that Ben want revenge on Widmore for the death of hes daughter. He get on the Plan all bloody. Did he follow Des and kill Penny. Did Faraday know this and tell Des to see his Mum for a way back to the island so he could go back to kill Ben.. (The island is not finish with des)
I think Ben did his usual lies to get the other to attack and kill the the Darma people. Widmore sussed Ben out or Ben just wanted to be boss and managed to get Widmore of the island.
This all seems to me as widmore trying to change what happened on the island by Time travel....
To perhaps stop Ben causing the death of the Darma and even the death of Penny.(although yet to be proved and even if it is proved he would have started his plan before she died) perhapes another future insight??
I think Widmore is Good Ben is Bad. But who knows with lost it can all change next eposode :)
