Who is Jacob? Why does Ben listen to him, follow his instructions, and try to convince his people that Jacob is god. Why? Because Jacob has knowledge that no-one else possesses.... knowledge of the future.
Our current 1970's Dharma Losties have future knowledge, enough future knowledge to convince young Ben that when he's older he needs to do everything in his power to get them on that island. Imagine how you would feel if you met somebody from the future.... might you think of them as some sort of God? Knowledge is power after all. Could one of the Losties be Jacob?
So Jacob.... he is definitely someone we already know I feel.
He has future knowledge of what happens on the island. We know this because he told Ben to build the runway for the Ajira plane. How could Jacob know this? Theres 3 possibilities:
1) Jacob was on that flight. This would mean that he couldnt be Jack, Kate, Hurley, or Sayid as they all flashed before Lapidus saw the runway. This would leave only really Locke and Ben himself that would have seen the runway and thus would possess the knowledge to tell Ben to build it way back in series 3 (wouldnt it be cool if a future version of Ben was actually Jacob?). He couldnt be Sawyer, Jin, Miles etc because Jack, Kate, Hurley and Sayid couldn't tell them about the runway because they never saw it.
2) Jacob turned the wheel, at some point, and travelled into the future. Could Faraday be Jacob? Could this explan his absence. Bear with me on this one.....We saw Faraday snooping around the donkey wheel at the start of this season. Sawyer made a comment that he had gone during the 3 years they were on the island in the 70's. If Faraday turned the wheel then why are the Losties still in the 1970's? Is it possible that Faraday did enough research to understand the wheel enough to be able to use it correctly. Could he have travelled into the future and witnessed future events on the island, and then somehow become trapped in some sort of time loop? Could Jacob be a time traveller who has gone into the future in order to have the knowledge of building the runway?
