I'll try to explain this the best I can, but it is still a little confusing in my head.
Now, let's assume that what Daniel said about whatever happened, happened, is complete BS. This seems to look like the case being that the barracks have changed in appearance when Frank and Sun were there. Now try and imagine what other effects this may have had on the island's history. Perhaps something happened and the others never lived in the barracks. Then where did Locke and his Lostie followers go when they split up with Jack? Where were they attacked by Keamy and his men, if they were attacked at all? If they were attacked, then how did they fend the mercs off if Ben had to call Smokey through the cave under his house?
With just this one subtle change, you can either have other suble consequenses, or consequenses on an astrological level. And another question comes up. Being that Sun never travelled to the past with the other Oceanic 5, would she have any recollection of this alternate time spent on the island after the crash of 815? I will make the assumption that the others won't remember because they are in the past causing the changes, but perhaps after the changes have been made they will have these alternate memories, too.
