A quick theory on Richard. Since the scooby doo Ressurection van made its appearance in season 5, and Locke has been ressurected, we now know that ressurection is a full fledged part of the show. Time travel was sci fi master element 1, and now ressurection.
Ah, the permutations and combinations of storylines that can be made with ressurected/non ressurected time travelers !
If policing potential paradoxes via time travel is critical, imagine all the trouble one could cause with ressurection tacked on to time travel mix!
ANYWAY - I digress. . .
I think that Richard is immortal because he has been ressurected. He was mortal at one time, but now is not.
The Ben line of "you do remember birthdays, dont you richard" totally implies that he did have birthdays and now he doesnt. Time travelers would still have birthdays, as they have not yet died. Richard, on the other hand HAS died and is now ressurected.
I think Locke is now immortal, Jacobs immortal, and his goal is to fight to free Jacob.
from who, or what I dont know.
The body handling is another clue. Some are buried and some are burned. I still cant quite understand why, when collen ( i think that was her name) Picketts wife was killed, she was burned and set to sea on a funeral pyre viking style. Yet the vast majority of other bodies are buried. The purge pit was purposly left unfilled, so they are not buried and not burned. . . And now we have richard reclaiming bodies ? Something is up here - big time. . .
