Hey, right I've been thinkin for a good long while now about why these four characters were not "chosen" by the Island to return with the rest of the Oceanic Six, so i came up with a few theories that might interest you,
Sun, her character has been through alot, so i Have two theories why she wasn't taken back, one theory is because she got pregnant on the Island but didn't have the baby or die having the baby on it, maybe the Island has rejected her because now that she has given birth she's a new person in a way, she isn't the same person she used to be, that sounds a bit far fetched so now I'll give you the normal theory, Sun murdered Colleen in cold blood on the elizabeth and this was a death the Island hadn't demanded, the other "other" deaths were meant to happen, that is how destiny was suppose to work but Colleen wasn't suppose to die, or she was pregnant and Sun took two lives
Ben, the theory for Ben is simple, he has lost his communion with the Island, he tried to kill Locke numerous times and the Island "needs" Locke, Ben has sinned and eventually he will have to pay for this
Frank, this theory is pretty tricky but I believe that Frank did not return for a very normal reason, Frank was suppose to be the pilot on 815 but he wasn't but eventually he did end up on the Island and rescued six of the survivors, this was his destiny all along like Ben said "a pilot's first priority is his passengers", he was to get the survivors of 815 off, this is why I believe smokey tore Seth apart in the first episode because he wasn't suppose to be there, but Frank acheieved what he was suppose to do and now is just a new "crash landee" on the
Locke, simple, Locke is a new man, he's been reborn and must continue his journey in this current time period, plus he turned the wheel, as did Ben which could be another reason why they weren't taken back to 1977,
