Most of my theory is just guesswork so I hope you can bare with me.
In the Orchid Orientation video outtake seen at 2007 comic con we see the concern of Chang at the rabbits being near each other. I think it's a fairly common theory that this has something to do with the incident. I think that Ellie(Eloise) has Daniel on the island and this is the basis for the incident. Still I'm sure this theory has been posted before and I apologize if my furthering conjectures are things that have been said.
So I think that as Sawyer and the merry men are concocting their stories that Daniel gets the fake name of Jacob. We won't see him interact with Dharma until the very end of the season and that will be the reveal as they call him Jacob. So now we have our Jacob, he runs into his former self and causes himself to be unstuck in time.
So going off of that I have a few things that go along with it:
* Daniel who has been a champion of technology has seen everything he loves become hurt by it, therefore in perfect juxtapose despises it.
* If he can occupy no time for more than a certain amount of time it is possible that he can have knowledge about all sorts of things, possibly filling a handy notebook?
* It may be why also Jacob is treated like a deity because of his ability to call shots based on future events.
* Could things moving and clocks changing be him trying to course correct events or alter courses like Desmond?
* Perhaps how the resurrections occur are due to him altering events to prolong the Deaths much like Desmond did to Charlie? Perhaps this is what Ben meant when he made the comment "I hope Jacob can save you now" or something along those lines.
