The list said:
1.Jack Shepard
2.Kate Austen
3.Hugo Reyes
4.James Ford
So what do we know? Why these people? Lets start with Hurley. They said he is good and they brought him along just so he could go back and tell his people to stay back. So Hugo wasn't actually on that list. And I will assume that this list is Jakob's list. Later on while Jack is doing the surgery on Ben we hear Danny saying : 'He wasn't even on Jakob's list'. So Jack wasn't on the list too. Then we go even further in the future. Kate, Locke, Said and Danielle are walking toward barracks. They are keeping Mikhail hostage. He starts talking and he says that they were not on Jakob's list because they are not cable of understanding and that they are not good people. And most of these things he says to Kate and Said. And Locke? I found it very strange...he said: 'But you John Locke, John Locke I know...' I will get back to this a bit later.
So what now? Now we know that the only person from that list who is actually on that list is James Ford and when handed to him, Michael saw the names and he didn't even know who James Ford is, but he knew who Hugo Reyes was? OK. So, we know JAMES FORD WAS ON JAKOB'S LIST.
What does that mean?
The thing that is going through my mind is how things would play out if they never traveled through time. 'What happened happened' That means they were always in Dharma time. They were always in 1954. So what we are seeing here is Losties time line from one point-the crash of 815. But what if we look at time line of someone else. Ben for example. He came to the island in 1971. That's my guess. Cause he was 11 when he came and I assumed he was born in 1960. So he spent 2-3 years before Sawyer&Co came and join DI. (so what happened to the truce between DI and Hostiles, maybe it started right after his arrival-when Ben was hiding in the classroom with Annie, or it was years later, maybe in 1977 when they find Said or something? Still not clear about it). Then he met Sawyer, Juliette and the rest. he had to. It's a small community. They lived together for at least 3 years. He had to remember them. He was not a kid. He was a teenager and his whole world changed after he came! to the island, and the constant fear of someone who can do you harm, the sirens, the guns, his dad... and every picture was 1000 times more vivid in his brain then in a brain of some ordinary teen living normal life in suburbia, trust me I know. So he remembered them (remembered just because I assume they will either die in the purge or they will leave the island and he wont).
The purge happened on 19th of December in 1992. A little less then 12 years later on 22nd of September in 2004 815 crashed.
So the main question is -was Ben really waited for them all this time? If we go back to the 'Tale of to cities' when he sees the plane and tells Ethan and Godwin to look for survivors he also asks Mikhail to gather all the information about the survivors. So he wasn't sure who was on that plane.
And Sawyer he remembers was man called Jim La Fleur. But the minute he sees Sawyer he knows it is Jim or he looks just like him!
And to him Sawyer is ageless like Richard is to us.
Or Juliette or Kate etc. By now I am pretty sure they recruited Juliette just because she was the one who delivered first and maybe the only baby on the island (I am not saying that they had pregnancy problems in 70s I believe it happened years after but it was their custom to deliver babies of the island).
So how he got the list? Jakob gave him the list of names? I think it's a lie. I think he lost his ability of talking to Jakob before, years before if he ever had one in the first place. So I believe that he was the one putting that list together. He needed Jack to do the surgery, he needed Kate to manipulate Jack and he needed Sawyer. Why? Why he needed Sawyer. One day Danny said they have special plans for Sawyer but Kate was scared and she was yelling WE ARE A TEAM! So, Danny decided to leave him alone?? Because Kate said We are the team? Lame. And then Ben took Sawyer for a walk just to show him they were on the other, smaller island. But to me it seemed like he is testing him. He met him when he was a kid. he lived with him at least for 3 years so he wanted to see if this is really the man he remembers. Or he wanted to kill him. He already had Kate to manipulate Jack. (And they wanted to kill Sawyer but Jack saved his life)
Now Richard. Richard Alpert (someone suggested that his name is short for RA and I find it funny, Richard Alpert was a famous Harvard professor who was kicked out cause he was doing some experiments with LSD for his research and he went to India during 70s. He became Ram Das (DarMa :)) and he wrote a book Be Here Now (BE NOWHERE or KAHANA-name of the freighter and it means nowhere, cool :) and the cover of the book shows an empty chair with footprints on the ground as if someone invisible is sitting in the chair. There is a documentary about him called Fierce Grace, look it up it's excellent)
So Richard is the only one who knows that Sawyer and Locke are traveling through time. He saw Daniel, Miles and Charlotte. Then Locke busted in. He never saw Sawyer and Juliette well not until Dharma time. He saw Sawyer but not Juliette. Yet he was the one recruiting Juliette. So perhaps Richard and Ben shared their experience about these strange people who didn't belong to either one of the groups, Dharma or The Hostiles. That was probably the case.
RICHARDs CASE
To us Richard seems ageless. To Losties too. To Ben as well. To Juliette.
But look at Sawyer. He looks the same to Richard in 70s and later on in 2004.
He looks the same to Ben both in the 70s and later in 2004 or maybe not. I will explain this later. I have PRO and CONTRA.
Now look at Juliette. She looks the same to Ben. She never ages. From Ben point of view.
Daniel he is the same in Charlotte's eyes. Man she saw when she was a girl is the same man she met on the freighter.
Locke is the same as Widmore remembers him back in 1954. He didnt change a bit. If he saw Sawyer or Juliette he would be surprised. These people simply don't get old.
Now ask your self a question who was the man who went through everything that happened on the island. The man who belongs to the third group of people. Passenger of flight 815. It is Sawyer. The only one who saw it all.. who shot a polar bear in tropical jungle, lived on a beach, was on that raft, got captured by tail section people, spent some time in Swan, who got captured by Others, who was held in the cage, saw there is another smaller island, knows about the Black Rock, knows about the whispers, knows about the black smoke (but never actually saw it:)), about the pond, Orchid, the well, and the rope, who actually saw a 4 toe statue, who witnessed Swan exploding, knows about the Desmond and his boat, knows survivors of flight 815, knows what is down the Orchid station and knows what happens after you do something down there or let me rephrase it - knows how to start time skipping again, knows that the island can be moved and how, knows Horace and Richard, knows about the! jughead, met Eloise Hawking and Charles Widmore, knows how sonic fence works, knows Ben since he was a kid, knows how Dharma functions, probably knows its all secrets by now, he was a head of security, knows about submarine and the polar bears, knows when 815 will crash and who will be on it, knows who Christian Shepard is, he is the man who killed Anthony Cooper, he is the man who made Locke's leadership possible, Man who knows about the Looking Glass and that Charlie died down there, knows about Danielle and her distress call. Knows about the freighter and when it's coming. Man who knows lot more then Benjamin Linus will ever know. Man who knows Benjamin Linus since he was a little boy. Man who in his eyes never gets old. Man who is waiting for John Locke, who will at some point in the future replace Benjamin. James Ford. Man who knows it all and saw it with his own eyes. Maybe the Man Behind the Curtain to be.
Now back to Locke. Was he the man Mikhail remembers? Or he was the man from the list of people who was on the plane. Man who was in the wheelchair before the crash and now can walk again? I believe it's the first one.
Locke was always on the wrong track. He knows it's his destiny. He knows that Jack suppose to help him. But how he knows that? Because others (survivors) treat Jack as their leader? Because he is a doctor? But what if he was wrong? If someone else was suppose to be the leader right from the start? But he was playing a part from the beginning just to avoid the leadership? I am thinking about Sawyer again. The hint was in the first season episode Confidence man. Shannon needed her asthma inhalers and everyone assumed Sawyer has them. He didn't have them but he decided to play the part. So he led them all along. That got him to the point where Said and Jack tortured him in the woods. And one of my favorite lines after he told Kate he never had the inhalers on him...
Kate: Are you serious?
Sawyer: Baby, I am tied to a tree in a jungle of mystery. I just got tortured by a damn spinal surgeon and a genuine Iraqi. Of course I'm serious.
Why would he do that? Why would he want everyone to hate him? Was he playing the part like he said in the Pilot 'I am a criminal. You are a terrorist. Let's all play a part. Who you wanna be?' Or he knew that he needs to be like that to get him where he suppose to go. Like John said once.
And the scene where he asks Kate 'Why did you kill me?' I don't believe her dead father is talking through Sawyer. Lost is better then that.
So what if Locke needed a leader but he was searching for him in a wrong man, because the man who was suppose to be a leader was a real pain in the ass?
Next thing. Locke's dream about the Horace. Horace told him:
'Find me and you will find Jakob'
So Locke assumed that the map was the thing he was looking for. But how the map can help him if the cabin is moving around the island? Then the map is useless. Now read it again...
FIND ME AND YOU WILL FIND JAKOB
Now back to 1954. Locke said to Richard 'Jakob sent me' Richard knew something was wrong. How someone from 1954 knows about the Jakob when Jakob doesn't exist. Well at least not yet. So if the man standing in front of him is the man who knows about the Jakob then he is the man from the future and he should talk to him. And he did. The way Richard looked at him was I don't know strange. I immediately started thinking WHAT IF JAKOB DIDN'T EXIST IN 1954. He is yet to come.
The vial of mystery surrounds Jakob for just one reason, his identity. When they reveal who Jakob is then the show is almost over.
Now back to the Horace.
IF YOU FIND ME YOU WILL FIND JAKOB.
Locke found Horace but he didn't find the cabin. Cause cabin was what he was looking for. Because of that cabin he was blind. If he finds the cabin he has found Jakob. But that's not entirely true. He found the cabin but no Jakob. Just Christian and Claire in it. So what, Horace told him he will find Jakob if he finds him. HM. He didn't say 'Find me and you will find a map of the cabin where Jakob resides'. He said 'Find me and you will find Jakob' meaning Jakob is laying dead in that pit next to Horace.
Maybe he has a name La Fleur written on his Dharma suit. Or maybe Sawyer is not Jakob. But he is the man who knows it all, man who's got Richards attention, man who changes names every once in a while. So if we assume it is Sawyer how can this situation evolve? Jakob is dead. He is spirit now. Trapped in that cabin surrounded with sand (white dust) and controlled by Ben.
Locke humiliates Ben in front of his people, in front of Mikhail and Richard (The man behind the curtain). Ben feels he is loosing power over his people. He is forced to take Locke to see Jakob before more damage is done. He is relieved after he learns that Locke is limitless to see and hear Jakob. But then a shocker. We all heard Jakob saying HELP ME. All except for Ben. So he had no chance then to kill Locke cause he threatened him. He will expose Ben to his people as a fraud who lost his ability of communicating with Jakob. So Ben shot him. And left him in the same ditch. Just before he left he said him something like -hope he will help you know John.
So I am guessing. Jakob was a man (Mikhail: Man who brought me here was a great MAN) and he was killed during purge. Maybe left in that pit. He can be La Fleur or Horace. Or someone else. My vote is for La Fleur. The beginning of the episode was a hint to us, hint about Sawyer - what kind of man Sawyer is now! A leader, who is helping others, who is not selfish but yet he is a great man you just don't go and see, he summons you (the scene with two men afraid of knocking to his door or not knocking. They are afraid of HIM but yet they respect HIM).
Locke & Sawyer
Sawyer and Locke share one man in their lives. One man who made them the way they are. His name is Anthony Cooper. Locke needs to kill him in order to get his answers about the island and to become a leader. Sawyer needs to kill him in order to continue with his life. So basically they are both stuck in the past because of this one man. Locke is not able to do it cause he is not a hunter but then Richard hands him Sawyer file (who happens to know them both for ages now) and tells him that Sawyer is a man who can help him. Will get to that later. Then the two of them are pulling the strings once the flashes start. After Locke went Sawyer became the leader. And now Sawyer decided to put his life in Locke hands once again (first time he did after the freighter crew came) to put his faith in Locke(unlike Jack). And he will wait for him to come back. He will wait for him as long as it takes. Because Locke went down to the Orchid in order to help them. Juliette said he already he! lped them. But Sawyer is still waiting for him. 3 years passed and he is waiting for Locke to come back and help him.
It is a circle. If flight 815 never crashed there would not be Jakob. Or Amy would never deliver her baby. Or Juliette would never be a member of Dharma. Daniel would not do his research in Orchid. He would never meet Eloise etc.Desmond crashed the plane. If the freighter people never came to the island the island wouldn't have to be moved so flashes would never start in first place. No Jakob again. No Juliette. No Daniel. Desmond saved Charlie couple of times and prolong his life so he could go down to the Looking Glass.
So Desmond is a rules changer. And everything Desmond does leads Sawyer & Co back in time. Ben is trying to prevent that. Charles has a wild card-Desmond and he is playing on his ego and his heart. I wonder what next is Desmond going to do cause we all know that the island is not done with him yet. Or maybe Ben adopted the wrong girl. :)and now he cant reach Desmond. He cant manipulate him the way Charles can. I still believe Charles is better then Ben. And I still believe Ben never knew about the resurrection of Locke. He killed him. Because he wanted him dead. He tried to kill him before. So now he failed twice. Locke didn't have to die in order to go back to the island. I mean I don't see the point. He pushed the FDW but so did Ben. So if Ben knew about the resurrection then why he didn't die? He just bought a ticket and read Ulysses while Locke was in dead in a coffin. Don't buy it. He killed him cause it was a pretty good chance and he didn't want to blew it. He kne! w Locke was trying to convince everyone else to go back so he knew Locke had some plan and wanted to became part of that plan. And Locke was the one who heard Jakob. If Locke is dead then Jakob stays prisoner forever. But why? That's the next question. Maybe because Ben wants to live in this time loop and Widmore is the one trying to break it. Trying to save Jakob, to free him.
And Jakob is still waiting for Locke to HELP HIM. Jakob's list was never Jakob's list. It was always Ben's list. The Master of Manipulation.
But maybe this time Jakob never dies and he never become prisoner. So none needs to save him. Or Losties will try to kill Ben. It is the easiest way. Then Ben turns evil. And the circle starts again. There is no beginning and no end.
'it's been playing over and over for 16 years'
over and over and over...
'guys where are we?'
I think the question was suppose to go like this....
'guys WHEN are we?'
I am tired of thinking. And writing...:)
