I rewatched LeFleur last night, and again we were shown when Locke falls into the Frozen Donkey Wheel Chamber. I noticedthat when he fell from well, he basically fell directly into the FDW chamber.
Whn Ben blows the hole in the experiment chamber in the Orchid Station, it is to a ladder that takes him directly to the FDW chamber.
But when Christian Shepard approaches Locke in the FDW chamber, he seems to walk down a long corridor to get to the chamber.
THis could have just been for dramatic effect, but it got me to thinking...
If we believe (as many of us do) the polar bears were being trained in thier cages to learn how to turn the FDW, they were being trained on the Hydra Station Island. I can't see them "boating" the polar bears over to the Orchid station, nor could I see them having them climb down into the FDW chamber.
My theory is there is a "tunnel" that links the Hydra to the FDW chamber/ Orchid.
Ben did not have the time to go to the Hydra Station, then back to the Orchid whe Keamy was trying to gun everone down, that's why he blew the hole in the experiment chamber to get to the FDW.
If the island moved while Dharma was there, a little before or after the Purge, there would have been no one to rebuild the experiment chambers in the Orchid.
Even if the entrance is not form the Hydra, there is definitely another entrance to this FDW chamber somewhere.
