Hey guys, I had a theory about the incident I thought was worth sharing. I think that "the incident" referred to in the dharma videos will be a result of some action the Losties take on the Island. It may be that however they travel back to their own time period causes "the incident" to happen. I have a theory about Jacob that is based on "the incident".
I think that when the Losties return to their own time, one of them will have to either turn the failsafe key or turn the donkey wheel. The person who does this will not get to return to 2009, but will be stuck in a parallel dimension (Think Superman II). This person will become Jacob, and exist at all times on the Island, but out of sync with the rest of existence. Jacob won't be able to do anything, trapped forever in-between time.
The reason I think this will be Sawyer is because I think someone will have to volunteer to take on this role. We've already seen that Sawyer was willing to jump off the helicopter and stay on the Island to save Kate. Now he has a chance to save everyone, including Kate and Juliet, by playing the martyr and becoming Jacob. Also it would give him a scene to rival Charlie's death (not as good though).
