Hi - I've never posed a theory before, but this came to mind the other day...
I know the overall theory is that children can't be conceived and then born on the island. What if that's not true - what if it's only the Others who can't conceive and give birth on the island? I don't think there's ever been a time when someone who wasn't an Other has died as a result of either. Maybe the reason why the Others are obsessed with kidnapping children is because they themselves are incapable of having them. That's why Amy could give birth, and probably why the Others end up kidnapping Ethan and raising him.
So in conclusion, nothing happened to prevent children from being born at some point in time on the island. In fact, children could always be born, except in the case of the Others. Maybe because the Others are are undead or something happens to them when they go to the Temple. Theory by Bostonldy
