Short version is that Daniel Faraday is the reason no baby can be born on the island.
We all know that Daniel Faraday is a bit odd. He seems to know more about how the island works than most. Perhaps he has a more unusual connection to the island that most.
I believe that we will soon find out that Amy and Horace's new baby boy is named Daniel. Everyone will believe that it Horace is indeed the father, but we will eventually find out that she had an affair with Daniel Faraday and he is the real father. Somehow that baby will be kidnapped or given to the Hostiles and raised by Ellie off the island. He will of course in the future make it back to the island, go back in time and eventually get Amy pregnant becoming is own father starting the cycle all over again.
The island does not like this and in an attempt to correct itself does not allow any other babies to be conceived on the island. If conception happened elsewhere, the island can't stop it. If it happened on the island, both the mother and baby will die. Theory by Stephen
