Something has been bothering me about the Richard/Frozen Donkey Wheel/Tunisia connection. It appears many make the assumption that Richard and the reveal from last week are Egyptian, but should we be asking -- do Egyptians, in fact, look like Richard?
If the island has always existed and the special qualities have always been there, including the portal to Tunisia, then perhaps the early inhabitants of the island traveled and populated Africa and all of humanity. For now, the trip is one-way to Tunisia and no indication has been given that the portal works from Tunisia to the island. To the contrary, until one takes a boat or a plane to the island you won't make it on to the island.
I have longed struggled with the question of whether Richard is aware of time travel and the special ability of the island, and I believe that the writers have kept this intentionally vague, as that reveal would clearly establish the possibility that the island is the birthplace of humanity, and everything that has gone wrong has threatened the very existence of humanity in some way.
I think we have been to narrow in our thinking that the departure of the 06 caused only disaster for those left behind. I believe, it caused something far greater, which is what we will learn form this point on. Theory by AndLost
