THe title says it all but let me explain...
When Jack met Pierre Chang in tonight's episode (s05e09), Chang states that ANOTHER baby was born on the island. Add this to Ethan's on-island birth and it seems that whatever event occurred which makes babies unable to be born, or even survive in the mother's womb, on the island has yet to happen.
This got me to thinking. WHat event could have this result and when does it happen.
Last point first - when? the AH/MDG Incident (as first referred to on the blast door map) seems to be the most likely candidate. So let's say we are 8 years off this 'baby-killing' incident..
But WHY would an incident cause baby's to be unable to be born?
Well, what if this incident causes some kind of time disruption (possibly caused by Faraday?) and after this incident, time on the island begins moving BACKWARDS instead of forwards like time normally does?
This would mean that everything is reversed. The EARLIEST time period in the island's history would actually be the most recent (makes ya think bout the statue huh) and 2008 time period ends up being the ANCIENT past, as far as island time goes anyway.
This would explain babies not being able to be born. HOw could anything grow in an environment of backwards time? Growth needs development and forward progression to time - if island is moving backwards, baby can NEVER grow...
This may explain the island's 'mysterious healing properties' - if time is actually moving backwards, then injuries sustained off-island are quickly undone once on the island (i know this point has holes in it, but it still may be right in some strange way)
SO if this theory is correct, i can see the final scene being someone STARTING to build the statue, or something cool like that.
Thoughts? :) Theory by WNGYPSY
