Firstly I would like to state some reminder facts to put this theory into perspective;
1. When Walt and Michael left the island, The time frame in which they entered the real world, is unknown
2. We also know Walts character is changing due to some form of ageing
3. When Charlie was entering the code into the keypad in the underwater station (events leading to his death) it was stated a musician programmed the pad and the code was a song that Charlie got all excited about
So, my theory is when Walt and Michael left the island, they entered the real world into a time that was in the past(before flight 815 crash), to support this claim, Michael changed his name, I believe if Michael had attempted to plant himself on the boat under Widmore's command, he would need much more than a new name, leading me to theorise the crash had not happened yet - and Widmore could not have known him.
Now, several years into the future an unknown guy (similar enough to Walt's ethnic origin, height and general appearance) boards the plane - I believe this guy is Walt. Walt being on the plane also supports Hawking's claim of needing the flight 316 to have similarities with flight 815.
Hurley, for some reason has decided to return to the island- the issue is his new hobby, of guitarist... And whats more is the flight 316 survivors have been planted in a time on the island thats quite possibly a time before the underwater station was created.
Right now it seems as though they are all going to pick up jobs working for Dharma.
I wonder if Hurley will be involved in any underwater station keypad programming projects? - It would also stand to good reason that the code he programs into the keypad would be in tribute to his late friend Charlie? Theory by Smithy
