Tonight's episode, "316", wrestled with the fundamental story arcs of Lost, plumbed the deepest mysteries and reset the playing field for the rest of the season. After absorbing for a few hours, I am surprised to find myself dwelling more on the little things, however:
* Ben's mission to tie up "loose ends" to keep a promise to an "old friend" that left him so severely damaged: is this his attempt to kill Penelope Widmore? Did he succeed? Did Desmond beat him down?
* Kate's parting with Aaron that she declares a secret from Jack: is Aaron now living with Cassidy and Clementine?
* Hurley's reason for boarding 316: did Charlie ask him? Is that why he has a guitar case? Re-creating that particular condition of 815, perhaps.
* Where did Ben walk off to, when he left Jack reading Locke's note, just before the pink flash in the airplane? Did Ben help trigger the pink flash or guarantee it in some other "recreating original accident conditions" kind of way?
* What is Walt up to? Why didn't fate book him a ticket as well? Perhaps he's special like Desmond - a rule-changer.
Some of these are theories phrased as questions. I hope that's not too annoying, but the question marks do accurately reflect the tentative nature of all of these loose end theories. Theory by Lino Bambino
