To start off my theory I guess I will have to explain my thoughts on the Island.
THE ISLAND
As we all know, the Island is a very special place...different from any other place on earth. It has been speculated that the island is many things.....the Garden of Eden... Atlantis... Heaven.... Hell..... but I think it is not any one of these...but all of these things. I believe the island is an incredibly special place that has been around since the beginning of time...and has played important parts in many different times throughout the worlds history.
To start with...the island was a holy place....some religions may call it the Garden of Eden and some may call it something else....but I believe it was the place where "the creator" began life on earth. I have read Bible stories that say that after man, or Adam, ate from the Tree of life...that the island was hidden from Man. Is it possible that Richard is Adam....and he ate from the tree of life and that explains why he hasn't aged??
So now we are at the beginning of time....the "creator" has created man....man pissed him off...and he has hidden the island from Man...but not necessarily taken it away. I think mankind has stumbled across the island at different times in history...and this has been the cause of many different mysteries in our history...Atlantis, etc...and maybe even the origin of many different religions.
I believe there is a battle going on at the island....the epic Battle between Good and Evil. I don't think that it is just the "creator" and mankind on the island at this point....i believe that the island is also inhabited by spirits...or Angels....or demons...djinns....or whatever term the different religions give them. Throughout the course of the show....we have seen these "spirits" in many different forms. (i.e. the smoke monster(s), aparitions, in dreams, whispers etc.) These "spirits" represent both Good and Evil factions....and are in a constant battle for control of the island....and the humans on the island are their chess pieces used for the battle.
Things we have seen...such as Eloise Hawkins working out of a church...the monk with the picture of Eloise on his desk and working to have Desmond meet Penny....the branding of Juliet after she killed one of her own......i believe these are all evidence of the people on the island...at least some of them...knowing that they are in the middle of a religious battle.
But to get on with my theory....I believe that Jacob is the ultimate Good....or maybe even the "Creator".....and at this point in the island....Evil is winning. This comes from the fact that the only time we have ever heard or seen anything from Jacob is when he told Locke to "help me". I believe that the Ultimate good and bad "spirits" can take possession of the body of someone that died off-island....and were brought to the island. I theorise that the Evil "spirit" has taken possession of Christian Shephards body and is misleading Locke into believing he is following Jacobs orders. What better Red Hearing could they have given us than to have named him Christian Shepard....or shepard of christians...of course we would be led to believe he is a good guy!
When the Oceanic 6 return to the island...they will bring John Locke's body....but just as Christian's body went missing...so will Locke's. I think Jacob is going to take possession of Locke's body....and Locke is going to become the "Christ-like" figure that is going to be the Hero of the show. The final season will be the battle between Good and Bad for control of the island. Locke leading one side and Christian leading the other. I think the Oceanic 6 will be split again....with Jack and possibly Kate or a few others following Christian....since it is his dad.....but in the end....Jack will find out the truth....and will kill his father....a theme that has been repeated many times throughout the show...and be the Hero again.
