There are two interesting things I noticed in Jughead, which gave me some pretty good insight into some speculation that's been going on. The first thing I noticed when they said burry the bomb, was what a lot of other ppl have been saying in regards to the Swan being built over it. But I also realized something. Since the orientation video and the likes of Kelvin and Desmond thought that the world would end if they didn't turn the switch, and after Locke caused the hatch to implode I was thinking, why didn't they all die when the hatch imploded? Then I realized an obvious answer. The island can stop anyone from dying (Michael or Locke) and can heal, manipulate, attack, and do many crazy things. So what I was wondering is if the island can do these things, then technically speaking the bomb Jughead was never an actual threat. The bomb can't go off and kill everybody since they all still have things to do. The sw! an if anything probably contained the blast and kept it minimal, and it also explains why everyone who was in the hatch still lived after.

This may seem random, but when Locke started asking Richard how he could get off the island, and Richard replied on how that was a guarded secret, I got to thinking (besides that everything on crap hole island is a secret) was that the temple either allows people to travel off the island, or just guards the people who need to be protected against the effects of the time jumps. Everyone is jumping through time, and notice how someone like Richard was not in the temple, so he keeps getting blasted back to other versions of himself. And yes if you want to say then all the characters should be jumping back to their past selves, I think its all about your role and proximity in the island. If you are off the island (Jack, Kate) you're not part of the island jumps. But for the sake of plot continuity, the writers want the main characters who aren't Richard and any other historical figure the cast has to meet, to be jumping as themselves throu! gh time. The temple to me, is a place for the likes of Cindy and the Others who were abducted after 815 crashed to either get off the island and not be effected, or just be safe from the effects of the jumps (and not end up crazy like Danielle or seemingly dead like Charlotte).
When looking at which others have actually been off the island, besides Widmore, Ellie (Ms. Hawkings is my guess too), Ethan, Richard, Tom, and Ben, we have not seen people like Alex even knowing about it. We know that the above mentioned others/hostiles are the key leaders of the group (unless you ask Ben about Tom). And since so many of them have never even heard of the Temple, it seems to be a safe bet that its either the be all end all secret exit that does not involve banishment from the island or causes time to be screwed up, or just a place of protection from the bigger picture...time.
