Frank Duckett was the man Sawyer was conned into killing in Australia. The more people try to explain what the Whispers are, the more it bothers me that Duckett's voice was heard prominently and clearly amongst the whispers three times when Sawyer was being tormented by the boar.
When I think of the set-up that Hibbs used to convince Sawyer that Duckett was Anthony Cooper, it's very similar to how Tom convinced Michael that Charles Widmore was behind the fake crash site of Oceanic flight 815. Hibbs gave Sawyer a detailed file proving Duckett was Anthony Cooper, just like Tom gave Michael a detailed file proving Widmore had faked the deaths of everyone on flight 815. Hibbs even sent Sawyer to a place in Australia where he could get a gun.
The police didn't have any idea Sawyer had killed Duckett when they arrested him, yet somehow the Others knew about it. Maybe because Jacob is the one who provided all the information on the passengers of 815. That's why Ben needed a list of names so he could go to Jacob and Jacob could tell him all about each one of them.
It would also explain what Christian Shephard is doing in Jacob's cabin. Duckett and Christian have a connection via Sawyer. When Sawyer couldn't go through with killing Duckett, who should he run into at a bar who gives him a nice little motivational speech that convinces Sawyer to go through with killing Duckett? Christian Shephard. And now Christian Shephard is hanging out in Jacob's cabin.
Interesting enough both Duckett and Christian may have both died on the same night.
A bigger question is could the gun that Hibbs people provided Sawyer with have been filled with blanks and Sawyer didn't really kill Duckett? Or could Duckett have just been an illusion. When Ghost Charlie showed up to visit Hurley one of the other patients saw him. So it's quite possible when Duckett was attending other customers in his shrimp stand, he might not have been real. We only have Duckett's claim he owed money to Hibbs, as Sawyer never got the chance to find Hibbs and confront him over what he did to him.
Darlton did say awhile back Jacob was someone we had previously seen, and if Duckett has no connection to that island, how could his voice be heard amongst the whispers?Theory by SockeRock
