It is known that :
- Both Christian Sheppard and Claire were in Jacob's cabin (Cabin Fever). Christian even spoke on Jacob's behalf and Claire said there was nothing to worry about.
- Christian's lifestyle (heavy drinking and traveling to Australia) pretty much resembled Jack's after coming back from the Island.
- Dead Christian Sheppard and all of his descendants (live or yet to be born) were aboard Flight Oceanic 815.
- Christian Sheppard arrived to the Island in a coffin escorted by Jack as will most probably a dead Jeremy Bentham in the near future.
- Everything has gone wrong since Jack, Aaron and the rest of the O-6 left the Island.
- As far as we know, after being unable to convince Jack to stay on the Island, Locke will have to go back to the continental U.S. and die to bring Jack and the gang back to the Island. No doubt Locke is special but he's just there to try and show Jack the way to since the very beginning of Season 1.
Therefore :
- I think the Sheppard Family history is very much at the core of the Island/Jacob's mystery.
- I wouldn't be surprised at all to see at one point a young Christian Sheppard during the survivor's time travels.
- Aaron, being the last baby born on the Island and Christian's grand-son, will be of great importance before the show ends.
- Jack will go back to the Island and finally fulfill his destiny of Island savior thus in process becoming Jacob!
That last one might be too far-fetched but why not ? Theory by whynot?
